We’re excited to announce something fun!
We have teamed up with Apartment Therapy for the very first intern contest. Why? Of course, it is great for our company and we have a terrific track record of hiring full time employees that first excel as interns with us, but now having had the chance to work with students as a teacher in design programs on the college and graduate level and even thinking back to when I was a student at the Rhode Island School of Design, it becomes more and more apparent to me, that many of the design careers that are really out there are careers you don’t “major” in at school. I majored in Painting. I never had any idea that there was even a genre of design work in the world of events.
Thus, an opportunity like this gives a budding designer an awesome opportunity to gain real working experience, find out if it is a design path they dig in the first place, and be surrounded by an awful lot of creative people in the process. Frankly, people ask me constantly, “How can I break into the event world?” This contest is a great way!
There are some fun perks for the winner beyond the actual internship that make this more exciting than “just another” internship: Press exposure on the Apartment Therapy site and designing the Apartment Therapy holiday party are pretty awesome entrees to the field.
Thus, we are excited to call all budding designers to enter, and we can’t wait to see your portfolios. Remember . . . part of the fun is that you can’t go to school for "Event Design," so here’s a cool way to learn about a facet of the design world that is simply not taught. Not yet, anyway.
We’re real nice too. (wink!)

P.S. A big thank you to our friends at Apartment Therapy for recognizing that design is something that happens by doing. We are thrilled to partner with them on this opportunity!
Is this a paid internship?
