I was lucky enough to take a very short (only an hour and a half!) train journey to Longwood Gardens in Kennett Square, Pennsylvania this past Monday, and frankly, it was incredible. The day was a little overcast but warm, and the garden was at the absolute height of spring! I have been working so hard lately with back to back events that I have not had the chance to personally enjoy the weather in a recreational kind of way, and even though my journey to Longwood was instigated by work, it felt like a holiday!
I couldn’t help but take a ton of photos with my iPhone, and below are some of the ones that I love. Not only is the landscape truly wonderful, but the indoor displays are very inspiring. I especially love tropical gardens – ferns, and all kinds of climbers, and there is a very special area designed by Burle Marx that really got me. And my photos are hardly anything! There are amazing tree houses, and formal gardens, the original Dupont home to tour, fountains, and an orchid house. Honestly, it’s a special place.
Thank you to all my new buddies at Longwood. We so enjoyed our day with you and can’t wait to learn and see more! And everyone: If you want a fantastic experience . . . head over to Longwood. It’s as special as any garden I’ve been to anywhere in the world.

How beautiful! And you're right about how inspiring the indoor displays are, they are absolutely magnificent. That 'main hall' image looks both romantic and mysterious at the same time. Thanks for posting this up, it's given me some great ideas!
