Right now, I am fully engaged in books. Our own book, David Stark Design, published by The Monacelli Press launches on April 27th. The new collection we are doing for West Elm this holiday season utilizes book pages in inventive ways to decorate and celebrate with whimsy too – more on that soonish!
In my creative research for our current projects, I have stumbled upon and fallen in love with the work of Robert The. I have seen some of Robert’s pieces in the gift shops of museums like the Whitney and the New Museum, and I have always liked the objects, but all of a sudden, because I have books on the brain, I started to delve in a little more. Robert similarly takes books and does stuff to them, embracing them as already “found,” evocative objects while transforming them with layers of additional metaphor. Sometimes the books are saved from dumpsters and thrift stores, but the titles seem purposefully chosen to me.
Here’s some additional eye and mind candy.
Nice, eh?

OK, I am just enthralled by your website, your blog AND your events!! Just visiting this site has all my creative juices flowing! I follow lots of events industry blogs and would really like to subscribe to an RSS feed for yours, but I couldn't find a button for that. Am I missing it?
