When someone mentions “Marimekko,” people automatically think of that big, happy, iconic flower print from the 70’s, which I believe Crate & Barrel revived a couple of years back making it seem so cheery and new. Fast forward to now and Anthropology is upholstering some of their furniture pieces with that fab newish lily pad print.
I’ve caught the fever as well. I am obsessed with these new patterns and am trying to figure out how to use them in my life. I love that you would never know they were Marimekko unless you were told.
We have been using some fabulous Marimekko patterns for recent events. We used Liro A. Ahokas’ pattern (Turbulent) in green and white for MoMA’s Party In the Garden this year – so chic and sophisticated (and incidentally, not seen all that often!).
